The Irish made history in the ACC Tournament by finishing second overall.

        The 2023-24 Notre Dame men’s and men’s swimming and diving teams made history by finishing second at the 2024 ACC Championships. The Irishman won four individual events and the 400 freestyle relay, broke 12 school records (seven individual events, four relays, one hole record) and set 28 best times.
        Junior Chris Guiliano dominated the meet, winning gold medals in the 50 meters (18.70), 100 meters (40.62) and 200 freestyle (1:31.16). Guiliano set a league record in the 100 meters and set a league record in the 200 meters. Based on the results of his performance, Gugliano was named the most valuable swimmer of the competition.
        Sophomore Tommy Jenton also won a gold medal for the Irish, breaking his own school record by winning the 200-meter backstroke in 1 minute, 39.21 seconds. Sophomore Marcus Gentry finished fifth twice in the 100 backstroke (45.57) and 200 backstroke (1:41.15).
        Graduate student Tanner Filion also did well, winning the 100m B final and setting a school record of 44.99. Fillion also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (1:41.82) and had the best time in the 100-meter dash, finishing 10th (45.68).
        The Irish won gold in the 400m free relay. Guiliano, Filion, Yanton and graduate student Abdelrahman El-Arabi broke the previous program record with a time of 2 minutes, 45.58 seconds. Other new relay records include:
        In the diving competition, sophomore Ben Nguyen won the bronze medal with a score of 406.70, breaking the school diving record. Nguyen’s results also qualify him for the upcoming Summer Olympics. Nguyen also had two top-eight finishes, finishing fifth in the 3-meter (379.25) and fourth in the 1-meter (357.40).
        The women’s team finished eighth overall, with six top-eight finishes, four of which were in diving. The diving team captured the women’s team title with sophomore Grace Courtney and junior Kaleigh Brady performing impressively in the 3-meter jump on Tuesday. Courtney was fourth (325.55) and Brady was eighth (319.20). The pair were again in the top eight on Wednesday, with Courtney fourth in the 100m (292.85) and Brady eighth (182.25).
        On the swim team, junior Madeline Christman finished fifth in the 200-meter final with a time of 1 minute, 53.67 seconds. She posted the fastest time in program history and the second-fastest time in the prelims (1:53.06). Christman also had the best time in the 100 meters (52.66), placing 12th. Another junior, Maggie Graves, also made it to Saturday’s finals, finishing fifth in the 1650 with a time of 16 minutes, 16.78 seconds. Graves also set a personal best in the 500-meter freestyle and finished 10th. Junior Jess Jerian and sophomore Grace Brenneman had the top two times in the prelims, advancing to the C final in the 50-meter freestyle with times of 22.56 and 22.59, respectively.
        Next up for Irish divers is the 2024 Regional Diving Championships in Louisville, March 14-16. Next up is the final stage of the collegiate swimming season – the NCAA Championships. The women’s tournament will be held in Athens, Georgia from March 20-23, and the men’s tournament will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 27-30.
